Good deeds: in the velvet silence or amidst the sounds of fanfares?

Is it a treasury of knowledge or a crypt where the worn-out remnants of bygone eras are stored—what is folk wisdom? A critical look at the unified voice of the masses raises the question of whether they stifle progress with foolishness. Yet, answering confidently is not so simple.

The devil is in the details. Proverbs aim to convey synthesized instructions to protect and support the community in its daily life. They can act as collective memory and promote cooperation within the group. While they possess valuable insight, they may also present a distorted truth. Even seemingly predetermined topics, such as alcohol consumption, can spark discussions with intriguing content. "Social customs" can also be cited as arguments—for instance, in Northwestern Bulgaria, it's customary to have a third rakia (brandy) at four in the afternoon (and for women to fight, if we're talking about the same region). The important thing is to maintain a clear understanding of which actions are good.

The idea of "doing good" can have its interpretations within different groups. Some see them as actions that contribute to the welfare of others without personal gain. For others, "good" may mean adhering to established norms, even when they're not right in a broader context.

Do good and… it should be continued forward. There's no need to seek responsibility or instill a sense of duty. Time is too limited to foster a sense of dependency. The people haven't said for nothing, "throw it behind your back (or in the sea if you're somewhere along Bulgaria's eastern border)."

… it should be remembered. Good examples should be shared and serve as the basis for quality relationships. It can cultivate a sense of gratitude and motivate the doer to build upon it. To continue forward while keeping their moral considerations clear
